The new General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") comes into effect on Friday 25th May 2018. GDPR sets in place valuable principles on how personal data is lawfully gained, processed, stored, kept relevant, kept secure and lawfully removed when requested.
With this in mind, we wish to take this opportunity to all customers of Electrica Ltd, to assure you of how we use personal data you have provided to us.
We currently hold personal data from various people within your organisation such as purchasers, account handlers, technical contacts and senior representatives. The types of personal data we hold may include contact name, job title, the organisation you work for, your company mailing address, e mail addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers and mobile phone numbers. We also hold bank payment details as part of a customer's payment process to Electrica.
Such personal date will only be used by Electrica for the lawful purpose of contractual obligation to you as a customer, a legal obligation required by Government Authorities and a legitimate interest to provide you with services you have requested. Examples of use include:
- Transaction documents and notifications we require to send, which may include purchase order acknowledgements, despatch notifications, invoice and credit notes and statements.
- Information which is relevant to the service of your account with Electrica, which may include quotations, changes of purchase orders you will need to be aware of.
- Information related to changes to your account with Electrica, which may include price changes and any contacts within Electrica.
To comply with GDPR you are required to give your consent for Electrica to process and store your data from 25th May 2018. If you do consent, then please do nothing and we will continue to service your account as always to the best of our ability whilst keeping your personal data safe. If you do not consent, please contact us and we will remove your details from our system.
